Caught for Attempting Theft under the Pretense of Repairing Bicycles

Reported about 1 year ago

In an exclusive report on July 7, 2024, at 10:57 PM, journalist Zhang Xiangyu reported that the Zhongzheng Second Police Precinct at the Siyuan Street Police Station in Taipei received a report from a citizen on June 15 regarding a thief stealing bicycles. Police quickly arrived on the scene to find suspect Jia in the process of reassembling Xu's bike, which he had partially disassembled, in an attempt to reconcile with the victim Xu. However, Xu noticed missing parts like the shift line and promptly reported the incident, leading to Jia's arrest. Police returned Xu's Giant bike, found Jia's tools like wrenches and screwdrivers, and upon investigation, charged Jia with theft and transferred the case to the Taipei District Prosecutor's Office. It was noted that Jia, despite being skilled, chose to steal instead of resorting to legal means for repairing bicycles, resulting in serious consequences. The precinct emphasized the importance of lawful behavior and warned against theft, promising strict enforcement of the law.
