Central Bank Announces Year-on-Year Inflation Rate at 2.24% Yang Chin-lung: Inflation to Slow Down in the Second Half of the Year

Reported about 1 year ago

During the second board meeting of the year, the Central Bank of Taiwan decided to keep interest rates unchanged with the year-on-year inflation rate from January to May at 2.24%, predicting a decrease in inflation in the latter half of the year. Factors contributing to the inflation included rising prices in food like dining out and fruits, as well as increased rent and personal care items. The bank will also increase the reserve requirement in light of housing market control measures to manage monetary credit and slow down the flow of credit resources into the real estate market.
