The Taiwan Institute of Economic Research held a conference on economic trends where Director of Economic Forecasting Center Sun Mingde shared that the central bank may maintain its tightening policy in the second half of the year due to factors like inflation not falling below 2%, positive domestic economic performance, and significant interest rate differentials with the US. While the Fed is expected to cut rates in the second half of the year, Taiwan's central bank may still consider a rate hike based on these considerations. Sun also discussed the implications of the weakening New Taiwan Dollar and the effects of currency devaluation.
