Novo Nordisk will require its employees to return to the office full-time, instituting a new policy mandating five days a week in the office, effective January 1, after laying off approximately 11% of its workforce. This move aims to enhance collaboration and decision-making, although the company acknowledges the need for some flexibility with potential individualized agreements between managers and employees. The layoffs, which total around 9,000 positions, are expected to save the company about $1.25 billion annually for reinvestment in diabetes and obesity therapies.
