The party's Secretary-General revealed internal disagreements on this clause, with efforts to address the transition of the top 8 and bottom 8 legislators. Ko Wen-je emphasized sticking to the rule to allow new talents in, addressing criticisms from within the party about potential candidates. New Taipei City Councilor Lu Chia-kai also challenged a party member to run for city council as mayor elections approach, evoking a response from Ko in support of the clause and dismissing the provocation as irrelevant.
