A chef from China's Jiangsu province, referred to as Liu, was sued by his former employer for violating a non-compete agreement after switching jobs. The former employer demanded over 100,000 RMB in compensation, but the court rejected the lawsuit, stating that the non-compete agreement unjustly restricted Liu's right to choose his profession. This reflects the increasing trend of companies in China abusing non-compete clauses, which are meant to restrict high-skilled workers but are now being forced upon employees in various positions.
