Taipei City Councilor Chen Youcheng expressed concern over the lack of comprehensive regulations as electric vehicles become more popular, with 134 lithium battery fire incidents reported in Taipei in the past 5 years. He urged Central and Taipei City to swiftly establish regulations to enhance public safety. Despite the growing number of electric vehicles in Taiwan, there is currently no responsible authority governing them, posing a potential safety risk. Chen emphasized the need for regulations at both national and local levels to address safety issues related to electric vehicles and charging stations in communities and public areas
