Recently, China announced the suspension of tariff reductions for 134 import products originating from Taiwan under ECFA, affecting industries like petrochemicals, textiles, machinery, steel, and transportation. Taiwanese businesses are now focusing on signing FTAs to boost international competitiveness, expanding markets in regions like Europe, the Americas, and Southeast Asia, and aiding entry into high-value markets. The Ministry of Economic Affairs is actively addressing issues like carbon fees, electricity costs, and financing for small and medium-sized enterprises. Businesses urged the government to improve domestic operating environments, promote local demand, prioritize domestic equipment purchases, and pursue FTAs for enhanced international competitiveness.
