China Implements 22 New Regulations to Crack Down on Taiwan Independence

Reported 8 months ago

China's Taiwan Affairs Office announced the immediate implementation of 22 new regulations, including the ability to impose the death penalty, aimed at punishing individuals advocating for Taiwan independence. The Taiwan Mainland Affairs Council responded by asserting the rights of Taiwan's 23 million citizens under the ROC constitution and criticized China's actions as detrimental to cross-strait relations. The regulations target individuals promoting separatist activities, with severe penalties up to the death penalty for those considered particularly harmful to national security. China also expressed strong opposition to recent US arms sales to Taiwan, imposing countermeasures on Lockheed Martin and its key personnel to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
