In retaliation to the EU imposing tariffs on Chinese-made electric cars, China's Ministry of Commerce has announced an anti-dumping investigation into imported pork and related products from the EU. While the EU officials are not worried, pork farmers from major exporting countries like Spain, the Netherlands, and Denmark to China fear that trade retaliation could severely impact their livelihoods. With China being the largest consumer of pork globally and a significant market for EU pork exports, the potential imposition of higher tariffs by China could disrupt the livelihoods of pork farmers. However, European Union officials remain confident in their subsidies complying with WTO regulations, but China's retaliatory action could have consequences.
