China Issues Policy on Punishing 'Taiwan Independence' Activities

Reported 8 months ago

China recently released a policy document outlining penalties, including the death penalty, for 'Taiwan independence' activities that are deemed as crimes of splitting the country. However, the policy also allows for individuals to avoid criminal responsibilities if they renounce separatist positions and meet certain criteria. The spokesperson for China's Taiwan Affairs Office emphasized that the policy is targeted at a small minority of 'Taiwan independence stubborn elements' engaging in criminal activities of splitting or inciting to split the country, and is meant to safeguard peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait.
