China's new national security law, effective as of yesterday, allows security personnel to inspect electronic devices of individuals or organizations based on anti-spying or national security reasons, leading to hesitation for Taiwanese travelers and a freezing trend in cross-strait tourism. However, the Chinese Ministry of National Security explains that inspections must adhere to 3 clear principles: premise, subject, and process, and enforcement officers cannot inspect devices without meeting all criteria.
