Chinese Ambassador to France, Lu Shaye, recently referred to Taiwan as a rebel regime within the territory of mainland China, sparking controversy. In response, DPP legislator Wang Ting-yu criticized Lu's remarks as factually inaccurate, and demonstrated that diplomats from the People's Republic of China are lacking in manners. Lu's comments were made during a seminar on the 60th anniversary of Sino-French diplomatic relations, where he emphasized the core importance of the Taiwan issue to China's national interests and advocated for peaceful reunification under the 'one country, two systems' framework. Wang Ting-yu further condemned Lu's statements as uncivilized and threatening, highlighting Taiwan's significance as an international partner in various fields like semiconductors, democratic values, and strategic positioning in the Indo-Pacific region.
