According to Chinese media reports, two Chinese medical equipment businessmen were lured to the Philippines and kidnapped, with one victim already paying ransom, but both ultimately were killed. The victims, who met a supposed Philippine agent at a European industry expo, were taken captive on June 20. Despite one victim's family paying a ransom of 3 million RMB (about 13.5 million NTD), both individuals were still tragically killed. Chinese embassy in the Philippines met with local security officials to discuss combatting kidnapping, telecommunication fraud, and human trafficking.
