Reported about 1 year ago
On June 11, 2024, at 6:55 AM, the Coast Guard admitted a major negligence as a mainland Chinese man drove a vessel directly into the Tamsui River area on the 9th and was only apprehended upon reaching the Tamsui Ferry Pier. Despite the Coast Guard locking onto the radar from 6 nautical miles away, personnel mistakenly identified it as a domestic fishing vessel, resulting in only monitoring with no further action or reporting. The Coast Guard announced disciplinary action against the bureau chief to radar operators, with a total of 10 individuals implicated in the lapse.
