On June 9th, a Chinese man drove a speedboat into Tamsui River at Fisherman's Wharf, prompting questions on why the coast guard did not intercept him at sea. The Ocean Affairs Council Chairwoman Guan Bi-ling stated that it was a human error, not a radar system failure, leading to a complete breach. The Coast Guard emphasized it was a reporting issue and will hold responsible personnel accountable. They are enhancing technology like radar with infrared cameras and increasing aerial patrol mechanisms to ensure national security. Vice-Chair Tse Ching-chin mentioned organizing disciplinary meetings to address personnel responsibilities. Guan Bi-ling admitted to misidentifying the boat as a fishing vessel and urged people to unite against China's irrational encroachment in grey-zone political warfare.
