On June 9th, a Chinese man surnamed Ruan drove a speedboat into the Tamsui River, with radar operators initially mistaking the target for a regular fishing boat returning to port. Despite notifying relevant authorities to identify the target, they failed to dispatch patrol boats in time for interception. National Security Bureau Director Tsai Ming-yan expressed concerns over Ruan's military background and emphasized the need for a thorough investigation and enhanced deployments to prevent similar incidents. The case is currently under the prosecution's investigation, with the Bureau respecting the process and results, aiming to improve intelligence sharing and notification mechanisms with other security agencies to prevent future occurrences.
