BBC News Chinese reported on the prominent #MeToo case in China involving activist Huang Xueqin. According to Reuters, a court in Guangzhou sentenced Chinese feminist activist Huang Xueqin to five years in prison on Friday (June 14) on charges of 'inciting subversion of state power.' Another labor rights activist, Wang Jianbing, was also sentenced to three years and six months on the same charges. The convictions have been criticized by organizations like Amnesty International and Reporters Without Borders, calling them unjust and unfounded. Prior to her arrest, Huang Xueqin was a well-known feminist activist and independent journalist in China who participated in and advocated for the #MeToo movement.
