According to 2024 statistics from the Health Insurance Agency under the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the most used medications in 112 years were painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs, with cold medications and acid reducers also being popular. Dr. Chen Yen-chia, a rehabilitation physician at the New Taipei City Luzhou Hospital, emphasized that painkillers only treat symptoms and not the root causes of chronic pain caused by poor posture, among other factors. He suggested combining treatments like ice and heat application, massage, stretching, or rehabilitation therapy, along with improving posture and increasing physical activity. If pain persists after a week of medication or returns once medication is stopped, seeking medical treatment promptly is advised.
