In recent incidents where police officers in Kaohsiung were suspected of being involved with fraud syndicates, City Councilor Lee Yajing strongly criticized the government for its lack of effectiveness in preventing fraud cases and revealed that some police officers in Kaohsiung used police computers to access personal information of citizens, which was then provided to fraud syndicates, resulting in substantial losses for the victims. She called for the government to enhance anti-fraud efforts, strengthen internal police supervision, establish specialized anti-fraud teams, conduct targeted operations, and increase fraud prevention education for the public. The Kaohsiung City Police Bureau responded by stating various measures taken to prevent data leaks and improper information inquiries by officers, as well as emphasizing the thorough investigation and punishment of disciplinary cases. Lee Yajing stressed the need for stricter measures to combat fraud syndicates, reinforce internal police oversight, and ensure the safety and property of citizens, urging the government and police to work together with the community to make Kaohsiung a safer and more harmonious city.
