The College Football Playoff has officially released the schedule for the first 12-team playoff, with dates and times of all 11 games confirmed. The playoff format includes first-round games on Dec. 20 and Dec. 21, with prime-time matchups and quarterfinals leading up to the national championship game on Jan. 20. The expansion to a 12-team playoff was approved after a decade of a four-team format, with top conference champions automatically qualifying and remaining teams selected via rankings.
