Connecticut firefighters, along with unions and firefighters from various cities in the state, have filed a class action lawsuit in a federal court in New Haven, Connecticut, against DuPont, 3M, Honeywell, and other defendants. The lawsuit accuses the companies of producing firefighter gear containing toxic 'forever chemicals' known as PFAS, which have been linked to cancer. The plaintiffs claim that the gear has caused adverse health effects and are seeking at least $5 million in damages for violations of Connecticut product liability law. Both DuPont and 3M have responded to the lawsuit, stating they will vigorously defend themselves in court.
