Zheng Wen-can, former Mayor of Taoyuan, recently faced bribery charges and was remanded, but eventually was released on a bail of 5 million NT dollars (revised to 12 million NT dollars). This reignited past controversies during Zheng's mayoral tenure, including various land scandals. Huang Kuo-chang, a legislator and total caller of the Civil Party caucus, expressed outrage at the situation, criticizing the fact that while those who gave money were remanded, Zheng Wen-can, the bribe recipient, was allowed bail, deeming it unacceptable and calling it 'over the top'.
