Controversy over Proposal to Allow Mainland Chinese Companies to Participate in Offshore Construction in Taiwan

FTNN News reported that a proposal to amend the Offshore Construction Act brought forward by KMT legislator Chen Xuesheng and others to allow mainland Chinese companies to participate in procurement for offshore projects has sparked controversy. During a legislative session, DPP proposed to refer the proposal back to committee, with no objections from the KMT caucus. Premier Su Tseng-chang also weighed in on the matter, emphasizing the importance of national security and quality control in public construction projects involving Chinese companies. The proposal was ultimately sent back to committee for further review.
