Another controversy over altruistic seats emerged at a high-speed rail station on June 23, 2024, as captured by a citizen on June 22. A woman placed her belongings on an altruistic seat inside the station, and when advised by others, she retorted, 'Which article in the Constitution of the Republic of China prohibits putting things on the altruistic seat?' leaving onlookers baffled. During peak hours, the woman occupied two seats, leading to a dispute when others requested her to free up the space. The high-speed rail emphasized that altruistic seats are meant for needy passengers and not for holding personal items, pledging to intervene if such incidents occur in the future.
