A foreign assistant professor who had been teaching at Jilin University in China for 9 years was suddenly dismissed for allegedly commenting on Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Europe in a US government-funded interview. The professor, Björn Alexander Düben, was informed that all his lectures and teaching courses were indefinitely canceled, and he was terminated from his job at the university. Despite not intending to resign, he ultimately submitted his resignation under pressure from authorities, facing the risk of being labeled a 'dangerous element' due to his sensitive comments on China's aid to Russia in filling supply gaps during a US media interview last month.
