In parts of California's farming regions like Pixley, concerns arise over the air pollution and health problems caused by industrial-scale dairy farms and methane digesters. While these digesters can turn manure into cleaner biofuels and help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, critics argue that low-income, Latino communities bear the brunt of pollution and oppose further financial incentives for these technologies. Despite the benefits in addressing climate change, residents debate the tradeoffs between environmental sustainability and community well-being.
