Within a short period, a Japanese health food company lost over 500,000 TWD, as police discovered that suspects in New Taipei City were a couple who purchased credit card numbers online to register as e-commerce members and buy goods. They made four purchases in one go, but the bank promptly noticed the anomaly and halted payments. However, the e-commerce site had already shipped the products without receiving the payment, resulting in a substantial loss. The couple, in their thirties, were found to have also engaged in illicit activities such as credit card fraud and drug possession, leading to their arrest.
