COVID-19 Cases and Deaths Rise in Taiwan, 10-Year-Old Dies After High Fever

Reported about 1 year ago

Taiwan's Centers for Disease Control (CDC) reported an increase in COVID-19 cases and deaths, with 932 new local cases and 64 deaths in the past week. The youngest fatality was a 10-year-old boy from northern Taiwan who had a history of epilepsy and was not vaccinated. He presented with symptoms in late June, including a high fever of 42 degrees Celsius, seizures, and ultimately cardiac arrest in the emergency room. Although his heart function was restored briefly, his condition deteriorated rapidly, leading to his passing the following day. The CDC highlighted the rising trend in COVID-19 cases in Taiwan and emphasized the importance of vaccination and continuous monitoring of virus mutations.
