COVID-19 KP.2 Vaccine to be Introduced in October as Pandemic Intensifies

Reported 9 months ago

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to escalate, Taiwan's health authorities have confirmed that they are procuring a new type of vaccine, with plans to start administering it from October. The new vaccine will provide protection against the latest virus strains including 'JN.1,' 'KP.2,' and 'KP.3,' and will be given alongside the seasonal flu vaccine. The surge in COVID-19 cases has led to a strain on hospital emergency rooms, with a significant increase in severe cases prompting the earlier-than-expected peak in July. The first phase of vaccination starting from October 1 will prioritize healthcare workers, individuals aged 65 and above, and high-risk groups.
