The male players of Denmark's Euro 2024 squad have declined a pay raise to ensure equal basic pay for their female counterparts when playing for the national team, as advocated by the Danish Football Association (DBU). Rather than reducing the men's side funding to support women's earnings, both squads agreed to forego a salary increase to establish parity in match fees under a new four-year contract with the DBU. The players' decision, including Tottenham's Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Manchester United's Rasmus Hojlund, aims to enhance the conditions for the women's national teams, with plans for a shared clubhouse and development fund funded in part by the men's team and the DBU.
