On June 30, 2024, a customer at a soy milk shop in Nanzih District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan, was shocked to find a live cockroach half the size of an index finger in the sauce while preparing to pour it over his food. Despite the customer's complaint and recording the incident, the store only offered a refund for one of the two buns he had bought with soy sauce. The store admitted the mistake of the employee but claimed that not covering the sauce ingredients is a normal practice during business hours, leaving food safety concerns unaddressed.
