A woman from Miaoli County, Taiwan, whose parents separated shortly after her birth, was raised by her grandparents, as her father showed little concern for her well-being. In 2009, he even misused government subsidies meant for her education. Concerned about being forced to support him in the future, she took legal action to reduce or exempt her support duty. The court ruled in her favor due to her father's long absence and failure to provide financial support, allowing her to be free from supporting him.
