The Parliament Reform Law came into effect on June 26, 2024, with the DPP caucus applying for constitutional interpretation at the Judicial Yuan. The Presidential Office, Executive Yuan, and Control Yuan also expressed intent to apply for interpretation, with the Executive Yuan set to process it the next day. This follows the joint rejection of the Parliament's constitutional amendments by the blue and white parties, prompting the DPP to seek constitutional interpretation and appeal to public opinion. President Lai Ching-te announced plans to seek constitutional interpretation and interim measures related to the Legislative Yuan's exercise of powers in laws at the end of the month. The DPP Legislative Yuan Caucus applied for interpretation and interim measures today, with focus on when the Executive Yuan will submit for interpretation. Executive Yuan Secretary-General John Deng had previously stated that the Executive Yuan would seek constitutional interpretation following Parliament's rejection of their reconsideration proposal. Political Commissioner Lin Ming-hsin confirmed that the Executive Yuan would address the matter the next day. Concerning whether related legal amendments are obstructed, necessitating interim measures, Lin clarified that interim measures fall under the purview of the Grand Justices, making it unpredictable.
