According to the Taiwan Centers for Disease Control, there were no new local cases of dengue fever in the past week, but 5 new cases of imported dengue fever were reported. This brings the total number of locally confirmed cases to 166, with 2 severe cases. The CDC warns of the continuous risk of dengue fever being imported from neighboring Southeast Asian countries and advises travelers to these areas to take precautions, wear light-colored long-sleeved clothing, and use approved mosquito repellents containing DEET, Picaridin, or IR-3535. They also emphasize the importance of removing stagnant water to prevent mosquito breeding and to seek medical attention promptly if experiencing symptoms of dengue fever after traveling abroad.
