DHL Express has terminated its flying-services agreement with Mesa Airlines one year early due to reduced cargo demand, as disclosed in Mesa Air Group's quarterly earnings report. The partners agreed to wind down cargo operations in February, with DHL reimbursing Mesa for associated costs. Mesa had operated three Boeing 737-400 converted freighters for DHL, flying packages to hubs like Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. Mesa's plans to expand its cargo fleet were disrupted by the pandemic and the loss of business as an American Airlines feeder. Mesa has been selling aircraft and reworking agreements to improve profitability after reporting a loss of $57.9 million in the first quarter of 2024.
