The global demand for diesel is expected to decline by 258,000 barrels a day this year, marking the most significant drop outside the pandemic since 2016. This shift, attributed to weakening industrial activity and factors like a slowdown in construction in China and sluggish sales in India, suggests a potential oversupply of diesel as refinery capacities expand. Analysts indicate that while demand may rebound in 2025, it will not catch up to supply growth, hinting at an ongoing transformation in the diesel market.
