Late at night on June 20, 2024, in Yilan Fruit and Vegetable Market, a dog belonging to a vendor was resting in the middle aisle when a car drove in for delivery. Despite seeing the dog, the driver did not stop and ran over the dog, causing it to ultimately succumb to its injuries. The incident sparked outrage among nearby vendors and the driver's spouse later apologized, claiming they did not notice the dog due to poor lighting and being preoccupied with finding the stall.
