DPP legislator Wu Si-yao criticized the KMT for proposing to raise the recall threshold and expressed that the DPP will not support it but will instead strongly oppose it. The proposed amendments to the Recall Act include raising the threshold to require more votes above the number of votes received by the recalled person in the election, as well as restrictions on recalling officials who have been in office for less than a year. Wu emphasized that the recall process is a constitutional right for the people and that the KMT's proposed amendments would make it more difficult for the public to exercise that right, leading the DPP to call for resistance against the changes.
