Drinking coffee can lower lipid and cholesterol levels, and even reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease death. However, individuals with severe hypertension (equal to or greater than 160/100mmHg) who consume 2 cups or more of coffee per day may face a risk of over twofold increase in cardiovascular disease death. There are 9 groups of people who are not suitable for coffee consumption, including those with high blood pressure, arrhythmia, anxiety disorders, pregnant women, acid reflux patients, IBS patients, insomniacs, iron-deficiency anemia, and minors. It is recommended to limit coffee intake to 300mg of caffeine per day and to avoid excessive consumption for health benefits.
