Driver with Bad Attitude Fined for Killing Cat on Yilan Road

On March 22nd, a driver in Yilan City ran over a cat on Jinmei Road without stopping to check. Despite being stopped by witnesses and informed of the incident, the driver showed a bad attitude and even left a fake phone number, asking 'Do you want me to compensate?'. This driver had also almost hit a person on the same road previously, causing anger among the public. After evidence was collected and reported to the animal and plant disease prevention institute, the driver was fined 15,000 NTD under the Animal Protection Act and required to attend a 3-hour animal protection course, marking the first instance in Yilan of a fine for killing animals on the road.
