Kuomintang legislator Hsiao Chien-hsin's sister-in-law Liu Hsiang-chieh and her husband Dudley Cheng are suspected of fraud, with Cheng alleging in court that Hsiao Chien-hsin was involved in bribery, submarine sonar, insider trading, among others, sparking a public outcry. The couple's company, Hancheng Rare Earth Materials, was reported for receiving fraud funds, leading to their arrest in March. An investigation revealed that the laundered money was traced to a public relations company owned by Cheng's associate Lin Yu-lun. Cheng's explosive claims, recorded in court transcripts, could potentially lead to further legal troubles for Hsiao Chien-hsin, further complicating the already scandalous case.
