Xiaohongshu's rising popularity among young people led to the discovery of this account, causing controversy for using simplified characters and claiming to be from Taiwan. Media personality Xie Yaozhou criticized the move, highlighting a generational gap between using Xiaohongshu among the youth and Facebook being associated with older generations. Despite the deletion of posts, the incident angered students with the account's Shanghai-based IP address, prompting debates on social media and drawing a response from East China University, terminating their collaboration with a Taiwanese educational institution.
