Concerns arise about Mainland China cars being assembled and sold in Taiwan, impacting local car parts supply chain. The Economic Affairs Ministry Deputy Minister Lien Chin-chang stated that current regulations only allow Mainland China car parts to be assembled in Taiwan, with a required percentage of localization. This percentage will increase annually, starting at 5%-10% and reaching 15%-20% in the second and third years. To prevent controversies like with MG cars, the Ministry is negotiating with local automakers like China Motor Corporation to increase the procurement of local car parts annually.
