Before the benefits of AI PC emerge in June 2024, the laptop market in the first half of the year has relied heavily on education contracts and demands from some businesses to restart procurement and upgrade devices. Brands like HP, Dell, Acer, and Asus have all seen positive growth in the education/business PC sector in the second quarter, with Chromebook's growth momentum being particularly strong. With global laptop shipments reaching nearly 40.35 million units in the first quarter, a growth of over 12% annually, it is expected that the commercial market will also be stimulated by the promotion of generative AI applications, despite overall soft consumer laptop market conditions. Chromebook, with stable year-on-year growth for four consecutive quarters, is estimated to see more than 30% quarterly growth in the second quarter, surpassing 5.7 million units, showing a growth rate of over 5% compared to the high base period of over 50 million units in the same period last year.
