The Mets lost to the Giants in extra innings, 7-2, after Edwin Diaz blew his third consecutive save opportunity. Despite an impressive performance by Luis Severino, who allowed just one run in seven innings, the Giants were able to capitalize in the 10th inning, with Brett Wisely and Mike Yastrzemski contributing to the win. Brett Wisely was named the MVP of the game for his key hits. The Mets will face the Giants again in their next game, with Sean Manaea pitching for the Mets and Logan Webb starting for the Giants.
