According to SET News, the Taipei Egg Merchants Association announced a price drop of 3 NT dollars, reducing wholesale prices to 37 NT per kilogram, marking a new low in recent years, due to sluggish egg sales and surplus in production. Despite multiple price reductions, demand remains low, with some southern merchants even resorting to feeding surplus eggs to pigs to urge moderation in pricing by the food industry to stimulate demand. As the summer approaches, egg consumption decreases, leading to an increasing surplus of eggs. Merchants appeal for overall industry price reductions to balance the market and avoid wastage.
