On June 24, 2024, a 73-year-old man surnamed Chen lost control of his car and crashed into a wall in a parking lot in Zhongli District, Taoyuan City, creating a large hole in the wall. Despite being trapped in the car and receiving emergency treatment, he did not survive. The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation. Chen, who was out for a meal with family, had asked them to get out of the car before parking underground. Unexpectedly, he reversed the car, then accelerated forward, crashing into the wall and getting trapped inside his vehicle.
