An 80-year-old man surnamed Li from Taoyuan was fined NT$6,000 for insulting a young woman surnamed Wang on a train for not swapping seats with him on a priority seat. Originally sentenced to detention, Li's penalty was reduced to a fine after appeal, with the court deeming his insults, such as calling Wang 'not human' and 'worse than pigs and dogs,' as a violation of public insult laws. Despite Li's claims of dizziness and apology attempts, the judge found his behavior disrespectful and upheld the final penalty.
