Electronics Components Industry Ends Negative Growth Against the Odds

Reported about 1 year ago

The Ministry of Economic Affairs announced that in the first quarter of 2024, the revenue of the manufacturing industry was NT$7.2198 trillion, a 10.2% quarterly decrease and a 3% yearly decrease. The decline was mainly due to the release of control measures in Mainland China last year, which resulted in a higher comparative base period, coupled with weak sales of consumer electronic products. Despite this, the electronics components industry saw a turnaround in revenue after four consecutive quarters of negative growth, achieving a 6.8% year-on-year increase, partly offsetting the decline. The report also highlighted the impacts of AI, high-speed computing, and cloud data services, as well as the conservative investment momentum among businesses due to factors such as high interest rates and inflation suppressing global economic growth.
